East D.C.

LIBRARY OF CONGRESS

Once the library of leaders, the Library of Congress now serves as limitless source of fire fuel. Not many survivors care to actually read anymore. The walker count is relatively low, with spaces being wide open or clustered together, making it easy to spot one and get away.

THE CAPITOL

Although damaged from the initial D.C. riots, a militia group has now taken residence at this iconic location. The fences are patrolled just as they would have been before the outbreak, and strangers are not exactly welcome- something many survivors new to the area often find out the hard way.

SUPREME COURT

Resembling the Parthenon with it's strong pillars and marble appearance, one would think that the Supreme Court would be a place of safety and high security.. Well, not exactly. Although the inside is a little trickier for walkers to navigate, there are still many.

U.S. BOTANIC GARDENS

Despite the chaos, the Gardens have somehow managed to stay healthy. No one knows if this is nature's doing or if someone is actually taking care of the grounds, but those that do wander in are either awed by the plant life in the massive green houses, or disappointed at the plant types.

THE STREETS

Aside from the known locations, there are the in-betweens and non-historic places in eastern D.C. Walker counts vary by location and strangely enough, none of them look to be government officials.

WEST D.C.

BUREAU OF ENGRAVING & PRINTING

The survivors more towards western D.C. camp here. Once a place where currency was printed, no one has much use for money anymore. It's fire fuel more than anything. The place seems frozen mid-production, as if all employees suddenly up and left.

THE WHITE HOUSE

After discovering no help was to be given and that all of those once in charge had vanished, the survivors in D.C. took to taking out their anger on the once pristine building and it is now partially rubble. Many walkers roam the area, and it's not very safe to be around the still-crumbling structure.

MEMORIAL SITES

West D.C. is filled with memorial sites; however, most of these are mainly just aesthetic pieces and survivors tend to stay away knowing there isn't much shelter to be offered. Because of this, there aren't often any walkers in the areas either due to lack of food.

NATIONAL MUSEUM OF AMERICAN HISTORY

A strong, massive structure, it would be the ideal place to settle if not for the numerous walkers roaming, and the fact that several thieves seem to frequent the buildings looking for unsuspecting survivors. While money holds no value, many objects and artifacts can have practical use.

THE STREETS

There is more housing here than in east D.C. However, that doesn't mean it's any safer. It's mostly apartments in this area with the houses being further out- meaning more walkers. On the plus side though, many living spaces means many opportunities to find supplies and food.

OTHER AREAS

FORD'S THEATER

More towards the north, Ford's Theater doesn't have very many walkers roaming it, and any are easy to escape due to the way the seats are all grouped together. It's a popular stopping place for those coming to D.C. from the north, so there's a good chance of running into other survivors here.

POTOMAC RIVER

This is the river running 'underneath' D.C., separating it from any states below it. Any survivors coming up from the south or southwest must decide whether to cross the river, or continue upstream until land meets. The river temperature right now averages in the mid 60's (18 C).

HOUSING DISTRICTS

Moving out of the center of tourism and vacation spaces, this area was once home to the permanent residents of D.C. The amount of walker activity varies on the area, and the survivors who choose to stay here prefer not to interact with others and to be on their own.

OUTSIDE D.C.

Whether far away and nearing, or just outside of the district for whatever reason, D.C is not the only place in the world where there are survivors or travelers roaming.
